The invention of indexable cutting tools intends to save cutting materials used during the manufacturing process, so if we like to know whether one of the indexable cutting tools outperforms others, measuring the amount of cutting materials saved is a fair method.
In other words, when a portion of raw material is used in the manufacturing process and can only create one product, but your cutting tool design can manufacture five products, which is equivalent to saving four times of material waste, or furthermore it can manufacture ten products, that is an even higher level of design.
In the process of substituting the welded cutter with the indexable cutter, the indexable cutting insert started with two or three times usage per cutting edge. Soon, the invention of negative angle inserts enhanced from three times to eight times per cutting edge. Nowadays, there are even customized cutting tools designs for high feed processing, which lowers the cutting depth to develop a high-performance indexable cutting tool, producing sixteen times per cutting edge! One step after another, new designs and inventions push the art of reducing cutting material usage to a higher level.
Here, I would like to say to the outstanding industry predecessors:
Thank you, with your inventions, we can reduce the usage of natural resources and make the future environment better now and in the future. Thank you all!
